StarHub Deepens Decarbonisation Commitments with New Targets in Latest Sustainability Report

As part of StarHub’s ongoing sustainability efforts, they have set near- and long-term company-wide emission reductions aligned to the Science Based Targets initiative. In their latest sustainability report, the company shared plans to achieve 25% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by 2030, and to reach net zero by 2050. The new targets come on the heels of their latest success in driving sustainable growth, including the launch of Green Tech solutions to help enterprises implement end-to-end solutions to achieve operational efficiency while reducing energy costs and carbon emissions. StarHub’s efforts have been widely recognised, with the latest being their ‘World’s Most Sustainable Telco (Fixed and Wireless)’ title on the 2023 Corporate Knights Global 100, deemed as the gold standard in sustainability rankings.

U Mobile Launches First Solar Hybrid-Powered Cell Site to Reduce CO2 Emissions

As part of U Mobile’s efforts to reduce its CO2 emissions, they have launched their first solar hybrid-powered cell site in Sabah, East Malaysia, to provide coverage for the region. With solar as the primary energy source, the genset will only run for 20% of the time, enabling U Mobile to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 80%. This eco-friendly solution benefits the environment while still allowing customers to enjoy high-speed internet with ease. U Mobile has plans to roll out more solar hybrid sites in East Malaysia for the rest of the year.

STT Cloud Advances Cloud Services across Southeast Asia

STT Cloud, through its managed cloud solutions company Cloud Comrade, has signed a three-year Strategic Collaboration Agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to advance digital transformation across Southeast Asia. Both companies are committed to holding joint go-to-market activities to bring greater awareness on their combined cloud capabilities and expertise to customers.

STT GDC India Clinches Awards by Frost & Sullivan and The Economic Times

STT GDC India was awarded the Frost & Sullivan  'Best Practices Company of the Year Award 2022' in the Indian Data Centre Colocation Services Industry for the fifth time running, a strong testament to their visionary innovation, performance and best-in-class capabilities. The company also won the ‘Economic Times Choice of Tech Leaders 2023 Award’ under the Data centre (Colocation) Provider category for Product & Services Strategy during the ET Cloud Innovation Summit, held in Bengaluru. The award was based on a pan-India survey from leading technology leaders, conducted by Economic Times Edge.

2nd Watch and Moogsoft Among the First Partners to Achieve New AWS Competency

2nd Watch and Moogsoft were among the first AWS partners who have achieved the newly introduced AWS Cloud Operations Competency. The certification recognises both companies for their expertise in providing cross functional guidance across five key solution areas of Cloud Operations while building strong and scalable foundations for their customers’ end-to-end Cloud Operations. Meanwhile, 2nd Watch was also awarded the Snowflake Competency badges for ‘Manufacturing’ and ‘Retail & CPG’ in recognition of their specialised expertise and commitment in driving customer impact across the Data Cloud ecosystem in both areas.

Six Undergraduates the First Recipients of STT’s Latest University Study Awards

Congratulations to the first batch of students receiving the study awards by STT at the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) and the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). Introduced in 2022 to motivate student excellence, the  ST Telemedia Yearly Performance Awards with SIT and the ST Telemedia merit awards with SUTD are given to top performing students from selected disciplines. In our inaugural year, we had 4 SIT award winners (two winners tied for the Information Security award) and 2 from SUTD. These five awards add on to our existing education programmes and are part of our longstanding history of supporting education initiatives and programmes.


StarHub Employees Learn about Water Sustainability at NEWater Tour

As part of StarHub’s commitment to advancing environmental sustainability and resilience, they organised a tour to the NEWater Visitor Centre for 50 StarHub employees in April. Employees gained deeper insights into water sustainability, how Singapore manages its water resources in the face of scarce water supply, as well as the processes in which NEWater is produced. At the interactive tour, employees also pledged their commitment to reducing their consumption of water in various ways.
