U Mobile is First Malaysian-Focused Telco to Align Banking Facility to Sustainability-Linked Financing; Publishes Inaugural Sustainability Report

In deepening its commitment to environmental and social responsibility, U Mobile has published its first Sustainability Report and converted its existing banking facility of up to RM1.4b into sustainability-linked financing, becoming the first Malaysian-focused telco to do so. The facility is linked to ambitious Sustainability Performance Targets – U Mobile aims to reduce its greenhouse gas intensity by 7.7 per cent by 2023 and 11.4 per cent by 2024, through the implementation of energy-efficiency and solar power projects.

VIRTUS Unveils Landmark Green Data Centre Campus with Capacity for Cloud and AI

VIRTUS, a subsidiary of ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC), announced its latest venture, the VIRTUS Wustermark Data Centre Campus. Located in Berlin, Germany, the Campus is poised to become one of Germany's and Europe’s largest scale green data centre campuses and serves as a strong reflection of VIRTUS’ commitment to raising the bar in terms of scale and sustainability across Europe. The project places deep emphasis on green initiatives such as renewable energy and waste heat re-use, which further support VIRTUS’ sustainable innovation ambitions and mark a significant step in its goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2030.

StarHub Plays Pivotal Role in SEA's First AR Smart Glasses and AI Visual Recognition Technologies Launch

StarHub is a key player in a new, game-changing 5G project which leverages artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented reality (AR) technology to enhance the operational readiness of the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF). Frontliners of SCDF will be the first in Southeast Asia to gain access to AR smart glasses and 5G-enabled technology to boost their operations through real-time information management, operations synchronisation, and AR remote assist. StarHub is in charge of providing the 5G connectivity that delivers ultra-low latency and greater bandwidth to support mission critical operations, as well as the hardware and network expertise.

STT GDC Expands Data Centre Footprint in SEA to Support Digital Growth in the Region

STT GDC is fast expanding its footprint in Southeast Asia (SEA) to meet the high market demand partly driven by the continued push for business digital transformation. In November, STT GDC announced its expansion into their tenth market, Malaysia, with a partnership with Basis Bay to develop and operate data centres in Kuala Lumpur and Cyberjaya, as well as Johor. STT GDC’s expansion plans within existing markets also include a third data centre in Thailand slated to open by end 2023, as well as expanded capacity across three existing data centres in the Philippines. The regional expansion also serves to strengthen and deepen STT GDC’s position as a fast-growing data centre provider globally.

StarHub Wins Big at Opensignal’s 5G Awards Ceremony

StarHub swept up multiple award recognitions at Opensignal’s 5G Global Mobile Network Experience Awards 2023. It was named Global Winner for Best 5G Video Experience, 5G Global Leader in the 5G Game Experience category, and Global Rising Star in the 5G Availability and 5G Download Speed categories. Earlier in June, StarHub also bagged all five overall awards in Opensignal’s Singapore Mobile Network Experience Report for Video Experience, Games Experience, Voice App Experience, Download Speed Experience, and Upload Speed Experience. The numerous awards are strong testament to StarHub’s commitment and ability to deliver enriching experiences for its customers.

STT Sponsors Singapore-Australia Green Economy Agreement Event to Promote Dialogue for Greater Climate Change Action

STT continued our support to encourage greater awareness, dialogue and participation to accelerate collective action against climate change with our sponsorship for the Singapore-Australia Green Economy Agreement (GEA) anniversary event organised by AustCham Singapore. This is the second consecutive year of our sponsorship as part of our sustainability efforts. Besides having both governments’ representatives share on the progress of the GEA a year on, industry players and academia were invited to discuss opportunities and challenges of the GEA and the green sector, how the private and public sectors can work together to encourage more businesses to get involved, as well as practical insights relating to areas including green finance and green skills.


STT Engages Seniors in Healthy Cooking Workshop

As part of our efforts to involve group in local community outreach, STT and Ollion employee-volunteers engaged over 20 seniors from Yong-en Care Centre’s PantryPlenish programme in a healthy cooking workshop. The STT-sponsored cookout sought to introduce nutritious and tasty dishes that the seniors could incorporate into their diets, as well as encourage them – many of whom lacked opportunities to participate in events - to interact with the community and build a wider support network.
