On 4 January 2010, ST Telemedia makes its foray into the European telecommunications market with its acquisition of eircom Holdings Limited which held majority indirect interest in eircom Limited, Ireland's leading provider of telecommunications services. eircom has over 1.2 million fixed-line customers and provides a comprehensive range of advanced voice, data and broadband services to the residential, business and enterprise markets.

eircom's mobile division, Meteor Mobile Communications, is Ireland's third largest mobile phone operator. eircom and Meteor recently launched branded data services for mobile broadband.
